safronfusionchamcitrusChamomile has never been my favorite or my first choice of tea but I decided to be adventurous and try Saffron Fusion’s Chamomile Citrus. This tea contains Grade 1 saffron, orange peels, chamomile flowers, rose-hip peels, lemongrass, lemon myrtle, hibiscus, spearmint, natural flavors, and orange petals. I received this tea in large tea bags but I opened them up to see the tea inside. This chamomile is a very pretty mix with bright yellow and softs pink colors. I steeped one tea bag in a large cup of hot water for 5 minutes. I find chamomile flowers to have a very distinct smell and you can tell right away as this tea brews that it is chamomile.

Unlike other chamomiles I’ve had in the past, I could really smell a lot of citrus in this blend, which I rather love. The spicy saffron is also very distinct. I took a sip and my opinion on chamomile definitely changed. This is a lovely, fresh blend. I can taste all the elements, from the citrusy orange peels, to the spicy saffron. The spearmint adds a different element most chamomiles lack. Since chamomile tends to be on the bitter side, I often add a little bit of honey to it. I added some honey to this tea and it was delicious! The sweetness balanced out the spicy saffron and acidic orange.

This tea is refreshing and calming. Even the aroma makes you want to sit down or take a nap. This herbal blend is naturally caffeine-free making it the perfect evening tea. Due to all the great ingredients, this tea has great health benefits as well! Saffron helps with digestion and can help reduce stress. Orange peels can help calm your stomach. Chamomile flower is known to help with both sleep and colds.

The only downfall of this tea is that chamomile can cause allergic reactions in some people. If you are allergic to ragweed pollen then you’ll likely be allergic to chamomile as well. I happen to be allergic to ragweed and I often stay away from chamomile for this reason. Though this tea didn’t cause any major allergic reaction, my mouth did feel a little weird after. Due to allergies, I, personally, wouldn’t drink this tea often. But if you have no issues with chamomile then I highly suggest this Chamomile Citrus!
