Licorice Root Tea

The liquorice plant is a legume (related to beans and peas) and native to southern Europe and parts of Asia. A sweet flavor, commonly referred to simply as licorice, can be extracted from its root. In traditional Chinese medicine, liquorice is commonly used in herbal formulas to “harmonize” the other ingredients in the formula and to carry the formula into all 12 of the regular meridians.

Lu Lin Teas Ginseng Oolong Tea

9.5/10  —  1 review
Teaviews Member: Vanessa Vanessa's review:
"The flavor is first and foremost that of a quality oolong, complete with floral, earthy, and mineral notes. It is a rich flavor, and very satisfying. After that first initial "oolong hit", the ginseng and licorice flavors follow up, delivering a powerful and sweet flavor which lingers in the mouth after each sip."

"As its name implies, this tea is spicy, in fact, I would say it is very spicy. The peppermint is the foundation for this blend, but the other ingredients provide a peppery, and almost pungent, spiciness to this tea. The cardamom was probably the most noticeable spicy flavor. This tea really has some kick to it, and therefore will likely not appeal to everyone. "

"This does remind me of a subtle chai with a licorice twist. The anise/licorice component isn't too in your face while this is hot, but previous experience tells me that they will become more prevalent as the cup cools."

"For a tea that includes such a cacophony of flavours, this blends together surprisingly well, with the anise being rather subdued. It is complex and interesting the whole cup through."

"The downfall of this blend is the lack of balance among the ingredients. If you have anything less than a zealous passion for cardamom, then this tea will probably be too much for you."

"As a cold beverage, this is at least drinkable. There are, in fact, fruity notes of peach and raspberry. However, even iced this remains very, very tart---and that is with a rather healthy dose of sugar."

"Unfortunately, the flavor profile is dominated by the rooibos, hibiscus, rosehips and licorice root---though not necessarily in that order. Those ingredients come together and taste almost medicine-like to me."
